Elisha Wells Stroupe Next Tuesday, June 20th, is the start of the Howard County Fair festivities, which will go through Sunday, June 25th, so it’s time to check out the schedule and plan a family fun night at the fairgrounds to enjoy all the fun to be had. If you’re planning to take the kids, don’t worry about dinner. Each night a local organization will be manning the food stand, so you’ll be supporting their hard work and saving yourself some much dreaded kitchen work as well. You can also top that off with some cotton candy at the carnival, which will be held from Wednesday through Saturday. Let’s not forget those wonderful carnival rides. Most adults would like to forget them, but your kids will think you’re the best parent ever if you get them a few tickets. There’s always lots to see at the fair. Kids love the livestock shows and checking out all the 4-H projects and the FFA exhibits. It’s a good time to plan ahead if they want to participate next year. There are lots of contests for the kids, from the pedal tractor pull on Thursday evening to the baby contest Saturday morning. Wednesday evening is the Little Kiddie Roundup, fit with farm chores, rides, a hay tunnel, and prizes. Definitely check out the schedule for all the activities, and sign up your kid or the whole family for an event throughout the week. Friday and Saturday night will be busy with the Wooten rodeo starting at 8 P.M. and the talent show on Saturday night starting at 7 P.M., which is a Missouri State Fair “Idol” preliminary. Stop by for an evening or all week. Parking prices are listed on the schedule, but admission to the events during the fair is free. Let the kids out to run wild for a night or two, sit back, and enjoy the fair food. A lot of people have worked hard make it a great week. Go out and show your support! Fair ScheduleThis ad was sponsored by Howard County Veterinary Services. The local veterinarians donate time, facilities, vaccinations, and dewormer for the steer, heifer, and goat weigh-ins and do the health papers for the sheep and goats.
