Elisha Wells Stroupe Are you trying to get through that summer time to-do list? If animal care is on that list, make sure you check out the Howard County Veterinary Service’s new online store, just recently launched to give their clients a more convenient way to shop for their animal care needs. Even better, to celebrate the launch of the new online store, the clinic is offering a 10% discount through the companion animal store and a 5% discount on the large animal and equine stores. Just use the promo code summer17 at checkout. You can find a link to all three stores at the Howard County Veterinary Service’s website: http://howardcountyvet.com/ Looking for companion animal products? Check out My Vet Store. Featured products: Heartworm preventative (Interceptor Plus), Flea/Tick preventative (Bravecto), and even treats, food, and toys. My Vet Store If you’re a producer, My Pharm Store carries products for food animals. Featured products: Dewormers like Longrange, insecticides, nutrition and supplements, vaccines, and even OB equipment and supplies. My Pharm Store Equine more your style? You’ve got your own store - My Equine Store! Featured products: Vaccines, antibiotics, wound care, insecticides, dewormers, and joint care. My Equine Store This a great way to buy local, even if you don’t have time to stop by the clinic, and Dr. Stroupe says the extra benefit of ordering online through a local business is “knowing that your pet's medications are coming from a safe, reputable pharmacy where medications are stored correctly.” The clinic only offers the manufacturer-guaranteed products that have been specifically approved for their patients. Another plus is the online store is always open! You can get medications for your pets 24/7 with overnight shipping available. On the companion animal site, all orders over $38 get free standard shipping! Our online store also makes it easy to remember monthly medications. You can schedule future orders on ANY product on the online store. On a fixed income and can’t afford a six month supply of heartworm preventative at one time? You can use the Easy Dose It function on the online store and have single doses of heartworm and flea/tick preventative sent to your home each month. Just a reminder though, before you start shopping, any prescription items that you need to purchase require veterinarian approval. Veterinarians will approve prescriptions after orders are placed, but you might need to allow at least one business day for this to happen. One benefit is that there’s no sending prescriptions to third-party pharmacies that don’t always follow veterinarian instructions, like changing doses or making product substitutions that can be harmful to your pet. The online store is another way to offer everything you need for your pet: Great prices, fast delivery, hundreds of items for dogs, cats, horses, cattle, and even pocket pets. You can get anything from prescription medications for your arthritic dog to squeaker toys. Unlike big box or internet pharmacies, the clinic has your pet’s prescriptions up-to-date and on file, there are no ads, and they never share or sell your information. If you have questions, feel free to call the clinic at 660-248-3382 or email [email protected]. Their office hours are Monday-Friday 8 A.M.-5:00 P.M. and Saturday 8 A.M.-12 P.M. Happy shopping, and don’t forget, the sale ends July 31st!

Elisha Wells Stroupe Next Tuesday, June 20th, is the start of the Howard County Fair festivities, which will go through Sunday, June 25th, so it’s time to check out the schedule and plan a family fun night at the fairgrounds to enjoy all the fun to be had. If you’re planning to take the kids, don’t worry about dinner. Each night a local organization will be manning the food stand, so you’ll be supporting their hard work and saving yourself some much dreaded kitchen work as well. You can also top that off with some cotton candy at the carnival, which will be held from Wednesday through Saturday. Let’s not forget those wonderful carnival rides. Most adults would like to forget them, but your kids will think you’re the best parent ever if you get them a few tickets. There’s always lots to see at the fair. Kids love the livestock shows and checking out all the 4-H projects and the FFA exhibits. It’s a good time to plan ahead if they want to participate next year. There are lots of contests for the kids, from the pedal tractor pull on Thursday evening to the baby contest Saturday morning. Wednesday evening is the Little Kiddie Roundup, fit with farm chores, rides, a hay tunnel, and prizes. Definitely check out the schedule for all the activities, and sign up your kid or the whole family for an event throughout the week. Friday and Saturday night will be busy with the Wooten rodeo starting at 8 P.M. and the talent show on Saturday night starting at 7 P.M., which is a Missouri State Fair “Idol” preliminary. Stop by for an evening or all week. Parking prices are listed on the schedule, but admission to the events during the fair is free. Let the kids out to run wild for a night or two, sit back, and enjoy the fair food. A lot of people have worked hard make it a great week. Go out and show your support! Fair ScheduleThis ad was sponsored by Howard County Veterinary Services. The local veterinarians donate time, facilities, vaccinations, and dewormer for the steer, heifer, and goat weigh-ins and do the health papers for the sheep and goats. |
