Elisha Wells Stroupe All the months, possibly even years, of waiting is now coming to a head for all those that are excited about the upcoming eclipse. It’s reported that Columbia might even double in population for the day. Boonville hotels are sold out, and so are our local B&Bs and inns. It’s going to be a busy, long weekend. If you’re looking to extend the celebration locally, start out on Sunday night with Fayette Area Community Theatre’s version of Total Eclipse of the Arts. They are hosting a musical movie night with a showing of A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. It’s a fitting movie for this celebration weekend, as an eclipse just might save the day, and the musical is also based on the Mark Twain novel of the same name, so where else to present this movie than in Missouri in the line of viewing. The main character, Hank Morgan, played by Bing Crosby, travels back in time after a blow to the head and brings some wild and comedic changes to King Arthur’s court. The movie starts on Sunday at 7:00 P.M. at Endeavor Agency (114. E. Morrison St., Fayette), and it’s sponsored by Exchange Bank of Fayette. Make it a date night or bring the whole family! Concessions will be sold by the community theater and Jr. Optimists of Fayette. There will also be a raffle for the upcoming wine walk that takes place on September 30th on the courthouse square. Wine glasses from last year’s wine walk can also be purchased or borrowed so feel free to bring in your own bottle of wine.
