Elisha Wells Stroupe Some of us don’t want to admit it and some of us have been looking forward to it since the first time we sat in our hot car and burned our legs and arms during a sweltering summer day, but summer is almost over. It flew by! All the fairs and festivals, picnics and ice cream socials, sports and more sports, have kept us pretty busy. School starts soon and the weather will be changing with it. If you’re one of those people that loves the summer months and fall makes you a little sad, cheer up because Miknan’s Main Street Pub has something exciting to add a little flavor to those chilly autumn nights. If you have checked out their Facebook page recently or stopped by one weekend this summer, you’ve seen some of the photos and heard about the taste tests they’ve had, narrowing down the great options being added to their new menu. If Miknan’s is new to you, check out their Facebook page for upcoming events and details about their new menu and weekend specials. Two new additions to keep you warm this fall - Ada’s Potato Soup, a homemade soup packed with potatoes, Italian sausage, and kale with just a small kick of crushed red pepper, and the Seafood Bisque, a homemade hearty bowl loaded with lobster, shrimp and scallops -- with a hint of sherry! Another taste test that became a great success was for the Breaded Catfish and Fries, which will come as a basket or sandwich, but either way, it was a hit with customers. Also, the Sawyer Burger was popular with the young and forever young, an eight ounce burger topped with sauteed portobello mushrooms, swiss and Miknan’s new, homemade steak sauce. The “Little Guests” menu even gets an update with the Texas Toast Grilled Cheese. Some new starters and appetizers that you might like to try are the Sesame Ginger Salad and the Philly Cheese Quesadilla. For all those that also can’t live without ice cream, even during cooler weather, Miknan’s hasn’t forgotten about you. They’re adding the Cinnamon Waffle with Vanilla Ice Cream, Whipped Cream, and Caramel to the menu. Just a little summer treat, with all the fall flavors! The new menu comes out this coming Monday, August 14th, so make plans to stop by Miknan’s at 107 N. Main Street in Fayette to try out a new favorite or even an old favorite. You’ll find yourself going back so much you may even find that they’ve named their next menu item after you.
